If you create or manage audio via other iOS applications, you can send this audio to the Mixlr app so you can use it in your live events.
This article will walk you through how to route audio into the Mixlr for Creators iOS app using Mixlr AudioLink.
This feature is available with compatible AUv3 host apps such as AUM and Logic Pro.
Host app set up
In your host app you’ll find Mixlr AudioLink listed as a plugin, which can be applied to a channel or group of channels.
For example in the audio app AUM, Mixlr AudioLink is available as an Audio Unit Extension plugin within the Inserts & Effects menu for each channel.
Select Mixlr AudioLink and you will see that it has been applied to the channel.
Route your channels to a mix bus and add Mixlr AudioLink as an effect to the mix bus to ensure that all audio in your session is captured and sent to the Mixlr app.
Keep your host app open and open up the Mixlr for Creators app.
Mixlr set up
In the Mixlr for Creators app, tap the audio settings icon on the broadcast screen.
You’ll see the input you currently have selected in the Audio source section (by default, this will be your internal microphone).
Tap here to view more input options and you’ll see an AudioLink option under the Mixlr AudioLink heading. Tap the AudioLink option to select it.
Dismiss the audio settings. If you have audio playing in your host app, you should now see the lights on your channel meter indicating that audio is being received.
Tap Start to go live with audio from your host app!
If you have set up Mixlr AudioLink in a host app but the host app is closed, you’ll see that the Mixlr AudioLink input is unavailable in the Mixlr app. Open your host app and load the session and Mixlr AudioLink will become available.
