If you use other streaming services to broadcast live, you can send the audio content from there to be streamed over Mixlr’s network. Alternatively, you may just prefer using external hardware for your streaming, or a different broadcast application to the ones that Mixlr offers.
This article will show you how to create a stream key so you can send live audio content to your Mixlr channel using OBS, YoloBox, Restream and more.
This feature is available on the Advanced plan.
Create a channel stream key
Channel stream keys are designed for 24/7 broadcasting. The event will appear on Mixlr using your default event settings.
From your channel settings in the Mixlr Creators app or Mixlr Creators space on the web, select Channel Stream Keys
Select the button to Create stream key
Copy and paste the relevant server URL and RTMP keys into your third-party streaming service
Create an event-specific stream key
If you don’t want to broadcast 24/7, or if you want to set custom event settings in advance, you can create a stream key for a specific event.
From the newly-created event page, scroll down to Stream keys and select Create stream key
Copy and paste the relevant server URL and RTMP keys into your third-party streaming service
Once you start broadcasting with your third-party streaming service, your Mixlr channel will go live with your broadcast’s audio content. When you end the broadcast on your third-party streaming service, the live audio on your Mixlr channel will end too.
TIP 💡 Since you're not broadcasting using Mixlr's software, the live event will not be recorded on Mixlr. If you want to upload the recording to your channel, ensure that you have recordings enabled within your third-party streaming before you go live.
