By default, your events are set to Public. This means anyone can listen to your live audio on your channel and people can search for it on mixlr.com and the Mixlr apps.
On occasion, you may want to broadcast to only a select few, or record a broadcast with no audience at all. To restrict audience access, you can switch your event's access level to either Unlisted or Only me.

What each access level is best suited for
How to change the access level so you can:
broadcast widely
broadcast to a select audience only
broadcast privately
Access levels explained
There are three access levels to choose from: Public, Unlisted or Only me.
1. Public
Visibility: Appears on your Channel, searchable on Mixlr.com and in the Mixlr app
Access: Anyone can join
Notifications: Followers receive notifications when you go live
Best for: Broad audience reach, open broadcasts
Description: This is the classic way to use Mixlr. Your live event is visible to all your followers and anyone browsing Mixlr. It is ideal for reaching the widest audience possible and engaging with your listeners
2. Unlisted
Visibility: Does not appear on your Channel, not searchable on Mixlr.com or in the Mixlr app
Access: Anyone with a direct link can join
Notifications: No notifications are sent to followers
Best for: Private events, exclusive streams
Description: With Unlisted events, your broadcast won’t appear on your public channel. Instead, you share a direct link with your chosen audience. Use this access level for private shows, special group events, or exclusive content for select listeners
If your Channel requires an access code, listeners will still need to enter the code to access your Public or Unlisted events.
3. Only me
Visibility: Does not appear on your Channel, not searchable on Mixlr.com or in the Mixlr app
Access: Only you (when logged in) can access the event
Notifications: No notifications are sent
Best for: Testing, practice sessions, and for creating shareable event recordings
Description: Only Me events are entirely private, visible and accessible only to you when you’re logged in. This is ideal for testing your setup, rehearsing your content, or ensuring everything runs smoothly before you go live to your audience
You can change your event's access level just before starting a live event, while broadcasting live, or when scheduling an event for later.
Before going live
If you are scheduling an event in the app or on the web:
Select Schedule
Scroll down to the Access level section
Choose between Public, Unlisted or Only Me
Schedule event
After going live
If you are just about to start a live event or have started one already:
Select Edit on the broadcast screen (after selecting Go live now > Start)
Scroll down to the Access level section and choose
Choose Public, Unlisted or Only Me
Save
Pro tip: If you create regular events for a select audience only, set a default access level so you don’t have to change the access level each time you go live.
