Switch the audio quality of your live event
Adjust the audio bitrate of your Mixlr broadcast between High, Standard, and Low Quality in Mixlr Studio.
Mixlr streams at Standard Quality by default, which works well for most broadcasts. If you want higher quality audio for music or radio, or need to reduce bandwidth for listeners with slower connections, you can switch the quality level in Mixlr Studio before or during a live event.
Note: Switching audio quality is currently only available in Mixlr Studio (desktop). If you need the quality changed for a broadcast using Mixlr for Creators, contact Mixlr support.
How to switch audio quality
1. Open Mixlr Studio.
2. In the Streaming box, select the gear icon. You can do this before going live or during a broadcast.
3. The Output Settings window opens. Select the Streaming tab if it isn't already selected.
4. Under Audio Quality, select your preferred option from the dropdown.
Which quality level should I use?
• High Quality — best for music, radio stations, or any content where audio fidelity matters most. Uses the most bandwidth.
• Standard Quality — the default. Suitable for most broadcasts, including speech, talk radio, and general content.
• Low Quality — best for spoken word content or listeners with limited bandwidth. Uses the least bandwidth.
Tip: If you're not sure which to use, stick with Standard Quality. It's a reliable middle ground for most situations.
Does this affect my recordings?
No. Changing the audio quality only affects your live stream. Your recordings are not affected.
