How to monitor your audio in Mixlr Studio

Monitor your broadcast audio through headphones in Mixlr Studio without affecting what your listeners hear.

Monitoring lets you listen to your own broadcast audio through headphones as you broadcast. It's useful for checking your levels, catching audio problems in real time, and making sure everything sounds right — all without affecting what your listeners hear. Monitoring is only available in Mixlr Studio on desktop.

Step 1: Choose your monitoring output device

In the bottom-right corner of Mixlr Studio, click Select monitoring. A dropdown list appears showing the audio output devices available on your computer.

Select the device you want to monitor through — for example, External Headphones or your audio interface. The device name will appear in the bottom-right corner once selected.

Step 2: Turn monitoring on for a channel

Each input channel has a headphone button at the bottom of the channel. Click it to toggle monitoring on or off for that channel.

• Orange headphone icon — monitoring is on for that channel.

• Grey headphone icon — monitoring is off for that channel.

You can monitor individual channels independently — for example, monitoring a playlist channel but not your microphone channel.

Adjust your monitor volume

Click the gear icon next to your selected device name in the bottom-right corner of Mixlr Studio. This opens Output Settings. Select the Monitoring tab and use the Monitor Volume slider to set how loud the monitoring signal is in your headphones.

Note: Monitor volume is independent of the Master fader. Adjusting it only changes what you hear in your headphones — it has no effect on what your listeners hear.
